SQL Server 2014 Database Internals (Duration 75 minutes)

Abstract: Do you already wanted to know how SQL Server 2008/2012 stores a database file physically on the hard drive? In this session you will learn the internal structure of a SQL Server 2008/2012 database file, and how SQL Server stores tables and indices internally in the file system. Furthermore you will see the DBCC T-SQL command in action, with which you can analyse the internal storage format of your database files. All these information from this session helps you in your next database design to get out the last present of performance from your new database solution.

Using BIML as an SSIS Design Patterns Engine (Duration 60 minutes)

Abstract: Business Intelligence Markup Language provides a powerful solution for creating and managing SSIS Design Patterns. Andy Leonard, one of the authors of SSIS Design Patterns, demonstrates the flexibility of BIML in this session.

Objectives:
1. Demonstrate how to generate multiple SSIS incremental load packages with a single click.
2. Demonstrate the power of repeatable patterns-based development.
3. Demonstrate the flexibility Biml brings to data integration development.

Andy Leonard is CSO of Linchpin People, an SSIS Trainer and Consultant, SQL Server database and Integration Services developer, SQL Server data warehouse developer, community mentor, blogger, and engineer. He is a co-author of SQL Server MVP Deep Dives, Volume 2 and SSIS Design Patterns. His background includes VB and web application architecture and development; and SQL Server 2000-2012.

Dashboard Design: Making Reports Pop

Abstract: Create a highly visual reporting experience in SharePoint with SQL Server Reporting Services integrated with SharePoint 2010. In this session, you'll learn how to use BI report design elements such as sparklines, KPI indicators, gauges, and maps to make important business information jump off the screen and get users’ attention. You'll see how to create highly interactive reports with dynamic drill-down, drill-through, and super reports that morph as users interact with the data. And we'll build an interactive dashboard using PerformancePoint/Insights and Reporting Services together.

He teaches, develops training courseware, speaks at industry conferences, and has authored and co-authored several technical books. He has presented at PASS Summit since 2004.

In addition to being a member of the Jacksonville SQL User Group he is also a former PASS Regional Mentor for the U.S. Greater Southeast region. Jorge has also co-authored the book from Apress “SQL 2008 Pro Policy-Based Management“ as well as "SQL Server 2012 Bible" from Wrox/Wiley. He was also a Redgate Exceptional DBA of the Year 2010 Finalist.
